buying gold / REITs on IBKR

I was wondering if it's a good idea to also add some gold (I guess as an ETF?) and REITs on IBKR, and if so, how you would go about doing so. For gold, I saw the "ZGLD" ETF, for example, would that be a good choice? And in terms of REITs, I have no idea what would make sense. Generally, I'm mostly invested in the US market currently.

Whether that makes sense or not will highly depend on what you want for your portfolio. Why do you think you need them?

The ZGLD or even the GLD ETFs are indeed good.
I have not researched REIT ETFs much. It depends on whether you want something international or not.

Personally, I would probably opt for some physical gold if you want some safety. And I would personally hold physical real estate for diversification if I thought I needed it.

I was thinking to simply invest a small amount of my portfolio in gold, perhaps 2-3%, just for portfolio diversification. Same with REITs. Would it make sense to do that? Or would you stick with stocks only (and potentially diversify more within stocks)?
