I just read that if you use a referral link to open your account on IBKR, you get up to 1000$ in IBKR stock. Is this true for Swiss customers as well? Or only US?

What a shame, then I completely missed out on that. I'm wondering if there's any way for me to still get this somehow? Would I somehow be able to open a second account, using a referral code, and move my portfolio over, perhaps? Has anyone tried doing this?

If not, that's a shame, because if the goal is long-term compounding, you're missing out on an additional (up to) 1000$ in this stock.. I think this should also be mentioned in the article on this page, unless I simply overlooked it.

Here are the details:

Referred accounts will receive $1 in IBKR shares for every $100 of value (cash or other assets) added to their account for up to $1000 worth of IBKR shares. The average balance must be maintained for at least 1 year for the shares to vest and be accessible.

I believe it is. Unfortunately, as a blog, I am not allowed to use that system since it can only be used to refer friends.

even this part is kind of shaky, as they write one should never be involved in any help once the account is opened... I mean what real friend suggest you a product and once you have it, they just go silent and dont share their experience or help in any way?

in the end only those random referrals are within their guidelines, and they are not even real referrals as most new users have already decided to switch to ibkr and then just search for a referral code on the internet.

I missed it too. Is it feasible to open a second account? Or would I need to delete the current one... It took almost 3 weeks to get it validated. Thanks
