I'm making a daily game about the Stock-market

Hi Folks 👋

Apologies for the self-promotion but wanted to let you know about something I'm starting work on from March 17th that you may find interesting.

Having been a huge beneficiary of Baptiste's advice and hard work when we moved to Switzerland five years ago, soon I will be fusing my love of 'daily games' with my recent interest in personal finance.

Hopefully it works out, and it will be a fun way of helping people learn about, start, or continue the journey we're all on.

Thank-you for reading, and I hope this doesn't come across as too 'spammy' :)

Hi @WillSnow

That sounds interesting. It's an interesting idea to combine something daily, with AI and finance.
I hope it will work out!

Ping us when you get something we can try out!

Well done!

It works really well. I have tried multiple games and it is very smooth. There is much more to it than I would have expected with the clues and the takes at the end. It's fun indeed and it is really good that you have used real stock data for this.

Do you hand-pick each day and take?

Thanks so much @Baptiste Wicht for playing!!!

For now I just have a single example day of data.

The plan would be to create backend automations that use APIs to create game data in bulk for lots of daily games in advance - I briefly explain each one here: https://dailyhold.substack.com/i/160243051/size-scope-up-backend-programs

Whether to hand pick, or leave it to random ... hmmm, unsure. I think some kind of 'rules' to guide the window creation would be required. Otherwise each day could easily be too similar, and it would be too easy to hold until the end of the window to guarantee and okay-ish achievement.

For the Today's Take - really, I think there could only be a small library of Takes. Perhaps these could be tagged to somehow 'match' to the relevant windows with similar tags. E.g. for windows where it's a constant decline from start to end, have a Today's Take called "Safety First" or something, reminding people of the ever-present dangers of stocks and why you need emergency funds, etc.

I just don't know if I'm trying to do too much though by fusing a 'can you time the market' daily game with also a 'learn why you shouldn't time the market' daily drip, drip of learning.

It's a difficult balance!

Thanks so much again. I didn't realise how much the layout was wrong in this test version - on phones there's too much scrolling required to see everything, and on laptop/desktop only on a big monitor does it all fit. Weird.

All good feedback though :)

The problem with anything manual is it takes a lot of your time :)

I did not have any layout issues on my computer.
