Investing through a vehicle

Dear Baptiste and all,

As this is my first message in your blog and forum, I want to start with thanking you for the awesome job you are doing. You open my eyes and released me from my life insurance 3A (now I see how evil they are), and moved to Finpension.
Also, your blog is my place to go for any finance or expense-related subject, from brokers to mobile subscriptions.

I recently did my tax declaration, and I realized how aggressively capital profits are taxed: my gained interests from Cashare are taxed at 35% in Kanton Zurich, if I am not mistaken.

I wanted to asked you if you have analyzed the option of investing through a vehicle in Switzerland (if you wrote a post about it, I may have missed it), or if anyone in the forum has experience with that.

Many thanks!

I guess 35% is the withholding tax which is automatically deducted by e.g. Swiss banks. Does Cashare deduct the withholding tax? If yes, you shouldn't worry: you will "get back" the difference between 35% and your overall income tax rate from the tax office - if you declare them, for sure.

Well done for getting rid of your life insurance 3a! And thanks for your kind words :)

This is only the withholding tax (as pointed out by @Max), but gains in services like cashare are indeed taxed at income-tax-level.

What do you mean by investing through a vehicle? Are you talking about a motor vehicle or a legal entity investing for you?

I have a Cashare account (one of my worst investment decisions ...) but see no withholding tax on their statement.
Out of curiosity, why was Cashare your worst investment decision? Did you have lots of loans defaulting? Just curious to have some more details on your experience with Cashare
