Leaving Switzerland

A random but pertinent question. Have been living in Vaud for the past 10 years and I have an opportunity to move away to Australia with my work. I’m not Swiss and not “married” to the idea of living here for good. I have investments with Saxo Bank and Selma currently. My question is, if or when I move away, can these investments etc remain intact? I can continue to invest in these brokers? Thanks

I don't think you can continue with Selma. As for Saxo, you may be good, but you will likely have to transfer to another entity than Saxo Switzerland, which is unlikely to be free. If you want to keep your investments, you are better off moving to an international broker, like IBKR.

Thanks for this Baptiste! Interesting and a little concerning. I ended up with Saxo as it is so much easier compared to IBKR , for a lay person like me. 😣
Saxo has a presence in Australia but it’s for professional brokers only, it seems.🧐
Just to add, my husband has a Finpension account and we have a joint Neon Bank / Neon Invest account … are these in a similar precarious position?
Selma has been good for me but the fees do not make it a long term strategy.
All much to think about / consider . Thanks !
