Just a basic question, I know these are 2 diff things and want to know if you should have any type of rent protection membership? I have a household and personal liability insurance for years, however recently my previous landlord has sold property to new company, so far it has been peaceful relationship however I am wondering if I should consider some rental protection like service to be safe, it just costs 100 chf per year. Though not sure how helpful they are

Hi @Plalwa and welcome to the forum!

I have never heard of this. I don't think this is necessary. You are protected by law because property owners are not allowed to increase rent without reason, and they have to follow rules to do that. If you know these rules, you can then officially refuse a rent increase and then something like ASLOCA would be interesting (50 CHF per year I believe).

I do pay these 100 CHF/year because it gives me peace of mind. Had a few cases where I got very competent guidance from some of their lawyers, so I knew how I should 'behave'.

Don't think I would have gotten this advice anywhere cheaper. Unless I would have relatives in that profession that I could ask for free.

Luckily it never escalated further, so I can't judge how much guidance you would get if things get more spicy...
