regular crypto investments (transaction fees, etc)

If I wanted to regularly invest into crypto (I'm thinking of the "big ones": BTC, SOL, ETH): what's the best way of going about this, to avoid high transaction fees for regular, smaller investments? the plan would be this:
  • invest CHF 500 monthly into crypto (~CHF 166 monthly into BTC, SOL, ETH each).
  • I would likely use Binance to do this, since they seem to have the lowest fees. One downside is that they don't accept CHF, only EUR, so there will likely be currency exchange fees each time, I'm assuming?
  • eventually, I would like to move the crypto assets away from Binance, to my hardware wallet. From what I understand, doing so will incur relatively high fees, so it might not be worth it to do this monthly, if we're talking about such low amounts?
My questions now:
  • Does it make sense to buy such low amounts each month? Or will the fees (currency exchange from CHF to EUR, then potential fees to buy crypto with it on Binance, and to move the crypto from Binance to my hardware wallet) make this a bad approach?
  • Would less frequent, higher crypto purchases be more sensible? For example 2000 every 4 months (~666 for BTC, SOL, ETH each), rather than 500 monthly?
Thank you

I recommend Kraken Pro rather than Binance for Swiss investors, as you can deposit CHF by bank transfer to their custody bank account in Liechtenstein, which is free with most banks (I tested from Migros Bank).
And then very cheep fees to buy from CHF major cryptos (BTC, ETH) and stablecoins (USDC, USDT...).
Or for more exotic altcoins like SOL or ATOM, you may have to buy stablecoins first.

Regarding the fees, they charge 0.25% to buy BTC from CHF through a Limit Order (or 0.4% for Market Order), no mater what the amount, so it's very convenient for your use-case

If you invest for the long term (≥10 years), it makes sense to invest every month or at least every 2-3 month, no mater what is the current price, so the returns average in the long term.
To withdraw crypto from Kraken Pro from or to your cold wallet, the fees depend on the network used:
  • BTC blockchain transactions cost 3000 SATS (~3 USD) per transaction no mater what is the amount, so you should transfer large amounts
  • BTC Lightning transactions are free but less safe and not suitable for large amounts
  • Ether blockchain transactions cost 0,00106 ETH (~3 USD)
  • Polygon blockchain transactions cost 1 USDT
  • Solana blockchain transactions cost 0.005 SOL (~1.25 USD)
  • Cosmos block transactions cost 0.1 ATOM (~0.6 USD)
Wthdrawal of fiat currency:
  • CHF: 1 CHF fixed fee (via SIC to any Swiss bank account)
  • EUR: 1 EUR fixed fee (via SEPA)
  • USD: 14 USD fixed fee (via Bank Frick)

Hardware wallet: I recommend the ones from Trezor, very reliable, 10 years in the business, designed in Czech Republic, and they support most tokens based on BTC, ETH, ERC-20.

What I would do in your case, is to buy cryptos you want to invest in every month from CHF, but keep some amount on the broker (like a current account at your bank) and then when you have reached an amount large enough of a given crypto, transfer it to your offline wallet for long term storage (like gold bullions in a bank safe). This saves on the transaction cost on the long term,

But keep in mind crypto is a risky investment, so many wealth manager recommend to not invest more than 5% or your portfolio in crypto.
