Swissquote now supports fractional trading and has lower fees

Hi,

Swissquote recently added support for fractional trading. And they also lowered their fees for the small investments (from 0 to 2000 CHF/USD) for most of the stock exchanges. This is good news for people wanting to use Swissquote but who are not investing a lot each month.

While I do not particularly recommend fractional shares, this is something that many investors are using, so it is good that Swissquote also offers this feature, which is not on by default, you have to opt-in, in your account settings.

I have updated all my articles and comparators with the new fees.

What do you think about this change?

Why don't you recommend fractional operations, only in stocks, or not even in ETFs?
Because you are not truly owning the stock, the broker owns the stock and then owns a small part of it to you. And this complicates things in case of bankruptcy.

In this case, when I bought 6.30 (being an ETF) on IBKR, do the 6 shares belong to me and the 0.30 belongs to IBKR, even though it's in my account? If I buy 5.70 or 7.70 next time, will this solve the problem?
Thanks for the clarification
