US citizen dilemma

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, apologies if this question has been addressed already.
I'm not very good with investing and money, but I know I need to do something with my savings that are just sitting in my account.
Is there any way that a US citizen can invest in Switzerland other than real estate - which I cannot afford!
My banks UBS/Post Finance only offer basic savings accounts and are not interested in offering me any other investment or long term savings options (e.g. blocked amount of cash with higher interest) because of US nationality.
I intend to stay in CH/Europe and am not planning to return to the US (having lived here for 17 years already- cannot currently apply for citizenship, otherwise would have).
Any suggestions on what to do with one's savings in this situation?
Thanks for any bright ideas!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I would recommend Interactive Brokers in this case. They should work great.
I think that Swissquote and Saxo will also work in this case, but not 100% sure.

As a US citizen you are eligible to open an investment account directly with Vanguard. The fees with Vanguard are very low (VTI is a Vanguard ETF with an expense ratio of 0.03%) and significantly lower than every other US and European broker I've seen.
