Health Insurance 2026

We will have a hefty 11% increase :(

This system is really bad.
Yep, adding this increase to my +30% increase on car insurance... 2026 will sting.

At the same time I get an email today from the Government saying that, due to raising costs, they'll introduce a 0.7% tax on the brutto salary of governement employees (from all sectors) + no salary indexation for 2026. 🤡

I have a comfortable income, but still feels like a weird reality to be living in, where everything goes up and income literally goes down. Can't imagine how low-income families will handle 2026's economy.

Sorry to hear that, that sucks.

Yes, this is crazy. It's the same for us. We are comfortable enough so that 11% of health insurance won't cause any harm, just lower savings. But for many people, this will soon get out of control :(

Another year, another increase; a nice 7% for me, to 403CHF/month. Insane.

How much more will you pay?
Mine (CSS) increases +5.46% (Kanton Aargau). I don't have a car (I'm driving a company car), but my salary won't increase at the same rate, obviously!
I'll have a look at this. Until when it is possible to change health insurance?
How should I interpret this map? I've set "Adult (>=26 yo), without accident cover, excess of 300" and in my town it looks green and tells me to stay with Agrisano:AGRIsmart. Does this mean that the cheapest is Agrisano's AGRIsmart?

What do you people think: for Fr. 34.90 less per month, do you think changing from CSS to Agrisano with a declared patology (Sjögren's) and yearly costs of several thousand CHF (because of at least 2 MRIs, at least one ultrasound investigation and some minor things) would be possible? I could imagine that e health insurance might be hesitating to onboard a new client when he/she already has some medical issues...

The base health insurance has no choice but to accept. Only the complementary health insurance can do a health survey. So, yes, you can save 34.90 CHF a month :)
OK. Further details -->
I've had CSS (my actual health insurance) accept to pay for 2 out of 4 "dental hygiene" per year (related to Sjögren's). This is also in the "Grundversicherung" (base health insurance). Would Agrisano have to accept this and do the same?
CSS has also agreed to cover the expenses for a specific treatment with a drug called "Rituximab" - a treatment which I haven't yet started, but for which CSS would pay in the future.

My complimentary I think I've never used. It comprises:
Gesundheitskonto
Standardversicherung
Notfallversicherung

What do you think - any "risk" that Agrisano would not cover something of the above?
Of course I would need to look into Agrisano's complimentary if I'd like to maintain the same level of insurance as I have now... and to be able to make a fair comparison. As of now the difference for the basic health insurance amounts at Fr. 9.90/month (almost Fr. 120.- per year)...

Interesting. I only have Grundversicherung. I never explicitly asked my insurance, but am surprised to hear that dental hygiene was covered by your Grundversicherung. Also, I never received the corresponding form from my dentist to make a claim for reimbursement. Again, I didn't ask my dentist for such a form. But my general understanding is that anything directly related to teeth is not covered by the Grundversicherung. I don't have kids, but would have assumed that this was also true for kids.

Yes.

Not all health insurance companies pay for all medicine. They sometimes have some exceptions. Some companies will accept some special medicine that others do not accept. You would have to ask the new insurance whether they will accept the new medicine.

If dental treatments are related to your pathology, then it may make sense since it's related, but I have no idea what other insurances are doing.

Trying to find a new family doctor in my city has been a pain. My previous doctor moved to another canton this summer and going through the lists of possible doctors on Helsana's / KPT's website so far has been a waste of time, as a lot of them either do not take new patients, or aren't even family doctors (I mean why do they appear on those lists then?).

I haven't been to the doctor in 5 years, at this point I'll just start looking in remote villages, so I can at least put a name on the new contract. I'm planning on taking a complementary insurance next year, focus more on my health, join a gym with that discount (Baptiste's health goals inspired me), but the basic insurance is taking too long to figure out, because you can only call these doctors/cabinets during work hours of course...

As anyone changed doctors recently? How was your experience? Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

There are also media reports about this problem (family doctors not taking new patients). When I changed insurance a few years ago I vaguely remembers that I had to chose a doctor from a list. But there was no confirmation required that this doctors would actually accept you. Of course, this is a problem if you then actually need to go to the doctor outside of an emergency. But at least you could sign the policy at the new insurance and then take your time in the new year to find a doctor that will accept you and then tell your new insurance about this change of doctor.

I'll probably end up doing that so I don't miss the end of November deadline.

Curious to see how this healthcare mess will be handled in the next few years.

In fact you're right: Grundversicherung does not cover anything related to teeth. In my case it's because it's related to a pathology which is covered by the Grundversicherung (Sjögren's Syndrome). And this doesn't just come automatically: my rheumatologist wrote a letter to CSS requesting it. CSS had to validate it internally and then confirmed it would cover 50% (2 out of 4) dental hygienes

Over the weekend I was reflecting over it and I think I'm not going to risk having to start paying for something which is already covered by CSS and might not be covered by Agrisano... I'll have to ask for a salary raise to cover the additional 5.5% increase at CSS!

This is probably the reason why I didn't manage to search for a different doctor 8 years ago, when I moved into a different Canton. I'll rather invest the time to travel to the "original" Canton, instead of wasting time in searching another doctor
