Opening a thread for topics and discussion around Revolut that don't merit their own thread.

Last week the Financial Times reported that Revolut has been hacked. The hack was quite unusual. The hackers obtained the files by compromising an Italian government email system, which they used to pose as law enforcement and demand information on specific Revolut client accounts over several months. According to NZZ, most the data is from French and Swiss customers of Revolut, targeted mostly at cryptocurrency holdings.

The hackers published their ransom demand on their own website, making the hack unusually public. From my understanding, this happened after Revolut did not reply to the hacker's requests.

According to the Guardian, Revolut stated that customer funds are not at risk.

That’s a pretty unusual way for customer data to be obtained, especially since the attackers apparently got access by impersonating law enforcement rather than breaking directly into Revolut. I’m glad the funds themselves don’t seem to be at risk, but the fact that French and Swiss customers were specifically targeted for crypto-related information would still make me a bit uneasy about what could happen with the leaked data.

Definitely!

They will like try a campaign to get access to these funds, either by using the data to access Revolut or more likely to pose as Revolut and phish the users to access the crypto coins.
