Bought something on Amazon today and decided to check how their currency conversion rate compares to Radicant, it's surprisingly not bad! Radicant's rate is nearly the same as Google's rate.

Regarding WIR, the blog states: "If you do a transfer in EUR in the SEPA region or in Switzerland, you will not pay any fee. However, if you do a transfer outside this region or in another currency, you will pay 5 CHF per transfer. In both cases, WIR will use its exchange rate. Currently, it looks like they have a surcharge of 1% on the interbank exchange rate for these transfers."

I'm not seeing this exchange rate in their T&Cs: https://www.wir.ch/fileadmin/user_upload/Dokumente/Informationen/zinsen-konditionen-bank-wir-fr.pdf

Did anybody find an official reference to it?
Looks like it's a bad idea to use them for anything other than CHF and EUR anyway, but still curious about it.

@justatreeinthesea Keep in mind that this is only for transfers from accounts to accounts, not to use with the card. Most Swiss banks do not publish their exchange rates. 1% is what I could find reported by some users online.

So Radicant just announced that they now offer a travel insurance!

This is pretty impressive for a free account. They are really aggressive in growing their customer base, offering so many amazing perks! I hope it works for them, I suppose they will start implementing some fees or paid plans starting from next year, but as of right, they are miles above the competition I think.

I started by using Neon as a salary account and daily business, while keeping a joint account on Migros Bank for rent deposit.

Now I added ZKB to the mix, which is now our main joint account. Neon is still used for foreign transactions, and the rent deposit remains on Migros Bank.

I also have a Zak account, but don't see the point of using it. Tried numerous times to open a WiLLBe account, but quit after waiting forever for the confirmation letter that never came.

Thanks @Baptiste Wicht for the tips, otherwise I would probably be stuck with UBS =)

Hi Baptiste, nice to meet you. I'm followin since almost d1 of your journey. You're doing an amazing job and you content have no price.

I've moved from Italy to Switzerland and i'm goin to open an AG. I think thats true when people says that reach people is reach because, at first, they do not waste money. Bank account fee it's wasted money so the less, the better.
So i'm trying to figure out what should i do and since MIgros bank is not an option, i was looking for https://www.akb.ch/ (Aargauische Kantonalbank): what do you think about it?
As a personal account right know i've Yuh but i'll probably switch to Neon (but i'm still thinking about it).

Thanks Baptiste!

Thanks :)

I don't really have an opinion about the AKB, I can't review the cantonal banks of every single canton :) In general, canton banks are decent. Some of them are even great like the ZKB. It's a good idea to start with the cantonal bank and then switch to something else (or complement with a secondary bank) later.
